The Revelation of John showing the way from the very beginning until the days of the eternal light of the New Jerusalem

« Blessed [is] he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time [is] at hand. » (Revelation 1 : 3)

The Revelation of John is mainly written for all the unfortunates in this dying world who are looking for something better where happiness and justice will be under the ruling of the Messiah.

The Messiah with the omnipotence of the Father will stop the destructive reign of the Prince of this world, Satan or the old serpent already mentioned in the Bible at the dawn of mankind!

The attentive reader of the Revelation of John will feel an increasing happiness while seeing forecasted events occurring because he will know that his release is near. As it occurred for the Hebrews during their captivity in Egypt, the valuable knowledge provided by the words of the Lord as they are given in the Revelation of John, will become a source of encouragement and patience that will help cross the chaos created by Satan, who knows very well that his end is near.

This is what Paul says in Romans 8: 18-25:

“For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time [are] not worthy [to be compared] with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of Elohim. For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected [the same] in hope, Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of Elohim. For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now. And not only [they], but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, [to wit], the redemption of our body. For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, [then] do we with patience wait for [it].”

In this paper, you will find a series of thoughts suggested by selected parts of the Revelation of John to keep us awake and increase our understanding as much as possible.

The dragon is very much like the beast that rises from the sea

but with one difference.

In Revelation 12: 3 and 9, a description is given of the great dragon, alias Satan or the old serpent, with 7 crowned heads and 10 horns.

In Revelation 13: 1, we see the beast rising up out of the sea, the one to whom Satan will give all his power for a duration of 42 months (v. 5). This beast is very similar to the dragon with seven heads and 10 horns. But it should be noted that this time, the 10 horns are crowned while the 7 heads are not.

The mother of the male child is not Mary.

The mother mentioned in Revelation 12: 1 and subsequent cannot be Mary, Joseph's wife. This woman is clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet and crowned with twelve stars. Her posterity is all the believers and part of them will flee with her to the place of protection to escape the murderous wrath of Satan (v. 6 and 13 to 16). The other part will accept to become an offering and to be witnesses of the Messiah for the Lord (v. 17). So unlike Mary who passed away and was buried a long time ago at the beginning of our era, the woman of the Revelation has a spiritual life and her existence continues until the end time and beyond.

This is confirmed by the words of the Messiah in Luke 8: 21,

« And he answered and said unto them, My mother and my brethren are these which hear the word of Elohim, and do it.»

If we compare this to Psalm 87: 5, where it is written:

« And of Zion it shall be said, This and that man was born in her: and the highest himself shall establish her.»

One can understand that Zion is the spiritual mother of all believers who are born again but in eternal life just as the Messiah after his resurrection.

The first failure of Satan in his attempt to murder the Messiah.

Revelation 12: 4 tells us that Satan the dragon has made every effort to devour the male child of the woman as soon as he was born. This murder attempt failed as we can read in Matthew 2: 16

« Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.»

But Joseph, being warned in dreams, fled with his family in Egypt and this is how Jesus escaped Herod's murderous madness while he was possessed by Satan.

Rule all the nations with a rod of iron.

According to Revelation 12: 5, the woman will give birth to a male child who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron.

This was already announced about the Messiah in Psalm 2: 1-2 and 6-9:

« Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against Yehoah, and against his anointed, [saying],…

Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree: Yehoah hath said unto me, Thou [art] my Son; this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I shall give [thee] the heathen [for] thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth [for] thy possession. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron;…”

Now, you should pay attention here, to rule the nations with a rod of iron means to rule them with severity. This will be a complete U-turn from the laxity of present democracies that we are enduring today. But having said that, the severity of a rod of iron is actually a sign love of our Lord and His Messiah for all the creation they want to save from the mortal bankruptcy caused by the lack of justice and the almost complete disappearance of protection in today’s world. Justice in the world is rotten and dying as you can see by yourself while hearing in the news all the shocking events occurring everywhere on earth. But to all of you who suffer from this situation, be patient and support this: your joy should come from your readings in the book of Revelation explaining how a great release is coming soon for you and mainly for the unfortunates.

In Proverbs 3: 11-12, we read:

« My son, despise not the chastening of Yehoah; neither be weary of his correction: For whom Yehoah loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son [in whom] he delighteth.”

1260 days and time, times and half a time.

Revelation 12: 6 and 14 show that the woman will be taken to the wilderness to be nourished by Elohim in a place prepared for this purpose. The 1260 days are equivalent to the wordings "a time, times and half a time."

A first remark about the 1260 days: 1260 days is the duration of the stay of the woman in the place of protection prepared by Elohim and it does not include the days during which the women is fleeing Satan. There is maybe a link between 1260 days and the larger numbers of days mentioned in Daniel 12: 11-12:

« And from the time [that] the daily [sacrifice] shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, [there shall be] a thousand two hundred and ninety days. Blessed [is] he that waiteth, and cometh to the thousand three hundred and five and thirty days.»

It is often implied that the total time mentioned herein as well as in Daniel 7: 25 is 3 ½ times.

In the book of Revelation, the word translated by time is the Greek word καιρος (kairos) and in Daniel, it is translated from the Aramaic word עדן (idan)

This would mean that the word time would correspond to 360 days on average. Many conclude from this that the word time means a year. We wrote average as indeed our year according to the Gregorian calendar has 365 or 366 days, and there is no possibility to match three and a half years with 1260 days! But if it refers to the Jewish calendar very close to the Biblical calendar, the year is about 355 days or 385 days depending on whether or not there is an intermediate year of 13 months. Maybe that exceptionally, the period of time corresponding to the 3 ½-times or a series of three and a half years would exactly be 1260 days. This topic is still questionable.

About a possible argument to support that the word time means one year, one can refer to the prophecy of Daniel 4, verses 13, 20, 22 and 29 covering the sudden interruption of the reign of Nebuchadnezzar caused by his outrageous pride in front of the Lord. His reign was indeed interrupted suddenly by the Lord after a warning given 12 months earlier (v. 26). This rejection of Nebuchadnezzar took 7 times and we could logically consider that these seven times are seven years.

But if we accept that these times are biblical years, we must be careful and know that a biblical years begin precisely with the new moon of the month of Aviv, also called Nisan, when the spring starts.

Satan defeated by Michael and expelled from heaven to earth.

Revelation 12, v. 7-9 announces a war in heaven between on the one hand Michael and his angels, and on the other Satan and his demons.

On this occasion, a vital reminder is given to us: Satan has succeeded in seducing the whole world! We should always keep this in mind and always accept that almost all the people around us are not at all ready to understand our belief, on the contrary we need to know that there is basically a wall of opposition all over the world.

But that does not mean that we are alone: all over the world, a great multitude of countless believers of all nations and all tongues, will fight successfully against the seduction of Satan and his demons and they will be ready to risk their lives (Revelation 7: 9 17).

This war will obviously end with the victory of Michael. Satan and his demons will be cast out of heaven to be rushed to the earth. This is the time when Satan will receive his punishment as it was previously announced in the prophets of the Old Testament:

· Isaiah 27 v. 1 : « In that day the Yehoah with his sore and great and strong sword shall punish leviathan the piercing serpent, even leviathan that crooked serpent; and he shall slay the dragon (note for the reader: the beast) that [is] in the sea.»

· Daniel 12 v. 1 : « And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation [even] to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. »

Woe to the earth and the sea, here is the abomination of desolation!

So here is Satan rejected with his demons on earth. He will have no more access to the throne of his Lord to go and accuse believers like he did at the time of Job. These believers as indicated in Revelation 12 v.11, are victorious over him but at the price of their lives. They preferred death instead of a temporary life of slaves to Satan and his temptations.

This victory was only made possible through the blood of the Passover Lamb, the Messiah of our Father and our Savior!

Revelation 12, v. 9-12: Satan and his demons are thrown on earth and are now realizing the very short time of freedom they have left. They will pour their anger causing chaos on earth and in the seas; all the creatures will face a unique misfortune and extreme distress that never occurred in the past and will never occur anymore in the future! We read this earlier in Daniel 12: 1 and Jesus confirms this in Matthew 24 v. 21:

« For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.»

In this context will take place the disgusting advent of the abomination of desolation in the holy place, that the prophet Daniel mentions several times:

· Daniel 9, v. 27 : « And he (note for the reader: the beast) shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make [it] desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.»

· Daniel 11, v. 45 : « And he (note for the reader: the beast) shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.»

· Daniel 12, v. 11 : « And from the time [that] the daily [sacrifice] shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, [there shall be] a thousand two hundred and ninety days.»

This abomination is nothing else than the move of the throne of the beast embodied by the Devil in the Holy Place.

At first, Babylon the Great rides the beast.

But later on, the beast with the support of the false prophet will destroy this Prostitute and will reign as the eighth and last world power.

This reign will be destructive and cruel all over the world

Revelation 12, v. 17 and 18 brings us back at the beginning with the failure of Satan to kill the Messiah as well as his spiritual mother.

At the end time, the Devil seeing this woman escaping him through the miraculous intervention of our Lord, Satan is enraged and he will go and kill all the remaining children of the woman in the world, the followers of Yehoah’s commandments who have the testimony of the Messiah.

To achieve his evil plan, Satan will give his power to the beast which came out of the sea and another beast with a similar power will come out from the earth. With its power, the beast rising from the earth will do “her best” to force people to worship the one that came out of the sea. But we will cover these dramatic events a little bit later.

An important detail is often unnoticed about the beast and you should keep it in mind; in Revelation 13, we see the beast that rises from the sea at the very end of its reign, when embodied by Satan, it receives the supreme rule over the whole world for a period of 42 months. But before, the same beast will have another period of time described in Revelation 17, during which its power will be influenced by Babylon the Great, the mother of harlots! The beast and the ten horns will hate her.

In Revelation 17, v. 9-11, John draws our attention with a very important series of information to help us identify the beast, its seven heads and the great prostitute:

« And here [is] the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the woman sitteth. And there are seven kings: five are fallen, and one is, [and] the other is not yet come; and when he cometh, he must continue a short space. And the beast that was, and is not, even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and goeth into perdition.»

We discover for instance that the beast existed through its six first heads far back in antiquity! John writes that during his lifetime, the beast is ruling the world via its sixth head, the one that exists. We know that at the time of John, the Roman Empire is dominating the world. It is therefore understandable that the five previous heads are the previous empires that have ruled over the world and they are listed hereunder in a chronological order:

1. Egypt

2. Assyria

3. Babylon

4. Persia

5. Greece of Alexander the Great

THESE 5 EMPIRES HAVE RULED OVER THE WORLD AND HAVE ENSURED AN UNINTERRUPTED REIGN OF THE BEAST. ITS REIGN HAD A CONTINUATION WITH THE SIXTH HEAD, THE ROMAN EMPIRE, UNTIL ITS END IN 476 CE.

The fall of the Roman empire puts a temporary end to the existence of the beast and this event is described as one of the heads, the sixth, as wounded to death (Revelation 13 v. 3). Indeed since 476 CE, there was no more worldwide empire with similar power like the ones mentioned above. Kingdoms and empires ruling European countries w ere always coexisting and here and there fighting against each other. But never one of these powers ruled over all Europe.

But on November 9th 1982, a very puzzling order was given to Europe by John Paul II, the greatest religious prophets of this world during the twentieth century:

''I, Bishop of Rome and pastor of the universal church, from Santiago issue to you, old Europe, a cry full of love: Find yourself,'' the Pope said. ''Be yourself. Discover your origins. Give life to your roots. Revive those authentic values that gave glory to your history and enhanced your presence on the other continents.''

''You can still be the beacon of civilization and stimulate progress throughout the world… and this despite your political divisions”

Worthwhile to notice that this speech contained no reference to the United States nor the rest of world, it is addressed only to Europe and by the head of the catholic church!

Wouldn’t this event be the fulfillment of the prophecy of the Revelation announcing the resurrection of the beast which had one of its heads as wounded to death? In other words, wouldn’t this mean that Europe is the seventh head of the beast?

It should be noted that this is the first time in history that Europe is a united power, and as such Europe is entitled to take back the flaming torch of the previous empire of the beast. If so, it will become the influential tool in the hand of the prince of this world.

By the way, it is interesting to note that the etymology of the word Europe is the Aramaic "erev" which means darkness.

"And when he cometh, he must continue a short space."

(Revelation 17: 10)

The reign of the seventh and last head of the beast will be short and will end with the fall and destruction of Babylon the Great.

Revelation 17, v. 16 « And the ten horns which thou sawest upon the beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.»

The fall of the great whore will be accompanied by a huge and catastrophic crash of the worldwide economy as we start to feel it today. This global economic crisis will bring a deep desolation among all the business men.

Before her fall, the Great Whore is teasing the Beast to shed the blood of the saints and martyrs of Jesus!

John is amazed when the angel reveals to him the true identity of Babylon the Great (Revelation 17, v. 6). John’s amazement is easy to understand for any believer once he is also aware of this unexpected identity. Yet the identity of the mother of harlots is revealed throughout all the writings of the Bible, in the writings of the Prophets and the New Testament as well! Her disgusting prostitution will reach its peak at the end time when she will catalyze the killing of all the saints and witnesses of our Savior by the Beast. Revelation 17, v. 6 shows the prostitute as " drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus".

Several prophecies of Daniel tell us how the beast will completely annihilate the believers:

· Daniel 7, v. 21 et 25 : « I beheld, and the same horn made war with the saints, and prevailed against them; … And he (= the horn) shall speak [great] words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time.»

· Daniel 8, v. 10 à 14 : « And it (=the horn) waxed great, [even] to the host of heaven; and it cast down [some] of the host and of the stars to the ground, and stamped upon them. Yea, he magnified [himself] even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily [sacrifice] was taken away, and the place of his sanctuary was cast down. And an host was given [him] against the daily [sacrifice] by reason of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground; and it practised, and prospered. Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain [saint] which spake, How long [shall be] the vision [concerning] the daily [sacrifice], and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the host to be trodden under foot? And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the sanctuary be cleansed.»

· Daniel 12, v. 7 : « And I heard the man clothed in linen, which [was] upon the waters of the river, when he held up his right hand and his left hand unto heaven, and sware by him that liveth for ever that [it shall be] for a time, times, and an half; and when he shall have accomplished to scatter the power of the holy people, all these [things] shall be finished.»

The false prophet will then set up a new system of trading

conditioned by the worship of the beast that had risen from the sea!

The rotten world of finance, the huge industries producing consumer goods, merchants, shipping companies and governments sold to Mammon, the god of money, will be completely disoriented and will find themselves in an abyssal desolation once Babylon the Great has been destroyed. the great prostitute who has, during his lifetime and that since ancient times! This is what you can read and reread in Revelation 17, v. 4-6 and Revelation 18, v. 9 to 19.

But the beast, was hating the prostitute and with its ten horn, it will enjoy the fall of Babylon the Great and will take this opportunity to completely destroy her in a very cruel manner.

At the same time, the beast rising out of the earth, disguised as a lamb, the symbol of our Savior, will miraculously create a new system of trade that will work only for those who will accept to worship the beast risen out of the sea and embodied by Satan.

Revelation 13, v. 13 à 18 : « And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men, and deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by [the means of] those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword (note for the reader: the fall of the Roman empire in 476 CE), and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number [is] Six hundred threescore [and] six .»

Important to note that the beast that rose out of the earth is the false prophet mentioned in Revelation 19, v. 20.

The beast that was, but is no longer at the time of John

will be itself the eighth king

and it has existed as one of the heads in antiquity

Thus now is beginning the 42 months reign of the beast itself, as the eighth king with limitless power thanks to the power given by Satan.

But John's writings tell us that this beast has already existed in the past as one of the heads carried by the beast!

The prophecies of the Old Testament will help us to identify it as the second head, the one representing Assyria.

In Isaiah 10, v. 5 and onwards, Yehoah reveals that initially the mission entrusted to the king of Assyria was limited only to the punishment of a wicked nation, which is symbolized by Babylon the Great, alias the great prostitute. This prophecy will be fulfilled at the time of the end as indicated in v. 12 and 17.

But instead of limiting its mission against the godless nation, the king of Assyria, embodied by Satan, will undertake the destruction and bloodshed of countless nations. Read about it in v. 7-15.

The fate of this king of Assyria described Isaiah 30 v. 30-33 is the same as the one in Revelation 19 v. 20:

· And Yehoah shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of [his] anger, and [with] the flame of a devouring fire, [with] scattering, and tempest, and hailstones. For through the voice of the Yehoah shall the Assyrian be beaten down, [which] smote with a rod. And [in] every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the Yehoah shall lay upon him, [it] shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of shaking will he fight with it. For Tophet [is] ordained of old; yea, for the king it is prepared; he hath made [it] deep [and] large: the pile thereof [is] fire and much wood; the breath of the Yehoah, like a stream of brimstone, doth kindle it.»

· Revelation 19, v. 20: « And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.»

A light of hope for us in this world of darkness

The two witnesses, the 144,000 and the great crowd

who will win the battle against the beast!

As at the time of the plagues that struck all Egypt, there were miraculous deeds of Yehoah through Moses and Aaron, we will have at the end time the spiritual support provided by the actions of the two witnesses yet hated by the whole world.

Read about them in Revelation 11, v. 3-10:

« And I will give [power] unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred [and] threescore days, clothed in sackcloth. These are the two olive trees, and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. And if any man will hurt them, fire proceedeth out of their mouth, and devoureth their enemies: and if any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed. These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.

And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them. And their dead bodies [shall lie] in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified. And they of the people and kindreds and tongues and nations shall see their dead bodies three days and an half, and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in graves. And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth. »

I wish all of us to recognize them, to listen carefully to them as the whole world will apply an enormous pressure to push us to hate them so that they will appear horrible in the eyes of all the human beings who will be slaves of their flesh!

Will we also recognize the 144,000 of the 12 tribes of Israel (Dan being excepted) when they will be marked by our Father? (Revelation 7, v. 1-8).

Will we flee to the shelter of protection prepared by the Lord or will we be one of the large crowd mentioned in Revelation 7, v. 9-17?
